Anura Quick Start Guide

Ready to crush ad fraud? The Anura Quick Start Guide is here to get you started.

Step 1: Determine Whether Anura Script or Anura Direct is the Right Selection for Your Application

Your Account has been set up with both products. We recommend that Anura Script is used whenever possible, because it collects the most data and is enabled to find more sophisticated levels of fraud. Anura Direct is a REST API that responds in milliseconds using less data but is still a very powerful product.

Step 2: Complete Integration

All the information needed to integrate Anura Script, Anura Direct, Reporting API, and integrated platforms can be found in the Anura Integration Guide.

Once integration is complete, and for added security, we recommend enabling Domain/IP Locking to secure your Instance ID. This prevents others from using it. With Anura Script, we can lock down your instance to work only on your domains. With Anura Direct, we can lock it down to work only with your server IP address(es).

Step 3: Review Your Data

The goal is to first identify how much fraud you are dealing with before making any real-time decisions. While reviewing your data you can use both Script and Direct to manipulate the data to see exactly who is committing fraud.

To provide more detail, focus on separating traffic into SOURCE (typically where the traffic is coming from) and CAMPAIGN (typically where the traffic is going). SOURCE can include publisher ID, affiliate ID, SSP ID or any other variable of your choosing. CAMPAIGN can be client ID, Campaign ID, SubID or any other variable. Simply by passing along the data through Script and Direct, Anura will help you identify quality sources and weed out less desirable traffic.

Anura Script Anura Direct
Good These sources have not been flagged by any of Anura's existing rules and should stay active in your network. Non-Suspect
Warning Sources that have tripped a rule in one of Anura's rulesets but cannot be definitively determined as fraudulent. We typically find that these are real people with conversion value.
Bad Anura has determined these sources to be fraudulent. These sources should be removed from your network. Suspect

Step 4: Rinse & Repeat

By using the date picker on the Anura Dashboard, select time frames to determine the status of your fraudulent traffic week over week to more easily focus on trends. Set a goal, we typically suggest cut your BAD rate in half, while maintaining or growing your overall traffic. Once you reach that goal, rinse and repeat the process until your network is free of fraudulent traffic. As your BAD rate starts to fall, you will see your ROI start to climb.

Step 5: Real-Time Blocking

Once you are comfortable with your fraud rate, you can now surgically remove every bad visitor from affecting your site. You can take advantage of our real-time signals to start making real-time decisions with how to handle BAD and SUSPECT visitors.
